BACHELOR OF FISHERY SCIENCE (B.F.SC.)

Fisheries education in India was started with the establishment of the

Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai in 1961. B.F:SCis a 4-year undergraduate degree program that includes understanding and management of fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, that draws on the study and investigation of fish processing, aquaculture and fishery resource management, fishing technology and management, fisheries environment and fisheries extension.

ELIGIBILITY

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Bachelor of Fisheries Sience

(B.F.Sc.) course is minimum 50% in 10+2 with subjects Physics,

Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics from a recognised college or

university.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Admission to B.Sc Fisheries is done through state-level or univerSity

level entrance examinations via all India level Indian Council of

Agricultural Research (ICAR) examination. Other entrance admission

exams for B.FSc are:

(i) Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)

(ii) Andhra University Common Entrance Test (AUCET)

(iii) LPU NEST

(iv) JNU Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test

(UNU EAMCET),

(v) Junagarh Agricultural University Entrance Test,

(vi) Karnataka Common Entrance Test

(vii) Maharana Pratap University Pre Post Graduate Test,

(vi) The Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical & Engineering Training

(CIFNET)
