MBBS from IIT? More seats of MBBS declared?

One of the well known institute of India, IIT is planning to start MBBS course in their campus. This is supposed to be launched in academic year 2024-2025. Here are all the details for this interesting news.

Indian Institute of Technology 

IIT, that stands for Indian Institute of Technology, is a very well reputed institutions in India. There are totally 23 IITs in India.

They offer various undergraduate degree courses like, B.tech (Bachelor of Technology) and B.S. (bachelor of science). B. tech course is the most commonly opted here, JEE (mains and advanced) is the entrance exam needed to enroll for B.tech program.

Other than that, post-graduate degrees like M.tech (Master of technology), M.S. (Master of Science), Master of Arts are also offered by many IIT. Apart from these many courses lf double degree courses and post graduate diploma courses are also offered in many IITs.

MBBS at IIT?

So, news have entered that MBBS course is soon to begin at IIT.

IIT Kharagpur have considered national education policy (NEP 2020) which promotes multidisciplinary approach for education. 

Under this approach, IIT Kharagpur has developed an undergraduate medical course - MBBS. It will be under the B C Roy Institute of Medical science and technology. There are high chances that initially totally 100 seats will be initiated for MBBS in the institute.

The new MBBS programme at IIT Kharagpur is said to be quite unique. New MBBS programme  does not only include medicine education but it will also cover basic sciences, engineering and technology. This means students who will get admission in MBBS in IIT Kharagpur will be learning medical sciences as well as engineering.

How to get admission into IIT for MBBS?

There is no other special examination as an entrance test for the new MBBS programme. MBBS admission at IIT Kharagpur, an renowned institute will be evaluated with NEET scores.

When will MBBS at IIT Kharagpur start?

According to news, the institute has developed the course and syllabus. All the facilities for the course are also setting up at the institute. Now IIT Kharagpur is awaiting a permission from Ministry of education and Ministry of health and family welfare. Also a granted permission from National Medical Commission (NMC) is also awaited. The program is said to start from academic year 2024.

So this is a good news for students preparing for NEET. Because from year 2024 onwards 100 medical seats are expected to increase. As well as the aim for joining this medical course will also help achieve more.
