First you need to know how much you have scored in what subject. For that result checking is necessary. If you don’t know how to get it, Let’s understand it step wise.

NEET results are uploaded online on website of NTA. You can go to the any of the 3 official websites provided by NTA.

Understand your result

Now that you have seen your result. So let’s decode it now. NTA has placed many things into your result.

On the First section, there are your personal details like name, gender, category etc.

Below that is your percentile score. Here you see your Subject wise percentile and total percentile score. Percentile score is calculated by below formula

Percentile= (100× number of candidates with less score than the candidates)÷ total number of candidates appeared in the examination

Percentile is not same as percentage of your score. It is relative performance of all candidates who appeared for NEET. Subject percentile is your performance compared to performance of other candidates in that particular subject, whereas total percentile is comparative number of your total score with other candidates. So please don’t get confused between your subject percentile and total percentile. Total percentile is NOT average of all subject percentile.

In this section only, you can see your NEET score, which are the total number of marks you have scored in the examination.

Also, NTA has already given you the All India Rank (AIR). This will be helpful for your counselling for admission. Colleges will make merit list based on AIR.

Category vise rank is also provided. This shows that among your category candidates, where you stand. This will help in admission process as you know there are quota of seats reserved in all colleges for categories like SC, ST, OBC etc. So with category rank, marks required for admission in those reserved seats are lesser than unreserved seats.

Below this table, is the table of cut off percentile and score. We will discuss in detail about this topic in the next section.

What is NEET cut off?

Before knowing NEET, 2022 cut off. It is important to understand what is the meaning of cut off.

NEET cut off is the minimum score required to qualify the examination. Only and only if you score higher than the cut-off, you are declared as qualified in NEET. But this does not promise admission. For admission there is another cut off , called as NEET admission cut-off. This is the lowest score or rank to which that college or institute will be giving admission. Whereas NEET qualifying cut off is the lowest score or percentile at which the candidate can qualify the exam.

NEET cut off is based on some factors:

Number of candidates appearing who appeared in exam. Higher number can take the cut off high.

Difficulty in the examination by questions. If question paper of NEET is very difficult, then there are chances that cut-off would drop.

Seats availability in medical colleges. The more seat quota, lower will be the NEET cut off.

The qualifying percentile is pre-fixed by NTA. This is different for candidates of different categories and for physical handicapped candidates.

Short forms in the table stand for:-

Gen – general category/unreserved

EWS- Economically Weaker section

OBC- Other backward classes

SC- Scheduled cast

ST- Scheduled tribe

PH- physically handicapped

NEET, 2022 cut-off

Along with the results, NTA also declared the cut off. Now that you’ve got an idea about cut off, you will be easily understanding cut off and it’s categories.

Below is the table in which along with percentile, this year’s cut off score is also given.

As compared to previous 2 years cut off marks, cut-off marks of this year had dropped. Since last two year, student with AIR – 1 had 720 marks. But this year it has dropped to 715, considering the difficulty of question paper.

Only if you have scored above the lower limit of cut-off range, you can qualify the exam. But this range does not guarantee admission in any particular college. For that you need to wait for institutes/colleges to release merit list according to your all india rank.
